Client and developers develop high level understanding of need and an initial backlog, developers develop high level open architecture, client and developers select subset of backlog as scope for first phase development, users and developers work to develop first increment within timebox, system deployed, customers get value, provide feedback and backlog updated, lessons captured and process improved. Iterate until budget consumed or overall need met.
