Peter Mason, Iain Cardow, Andrew Farncombe, John Davies, Stephen Ashlin, Laura Mullin, Rachel Freeman
[edit] Introductions
Notes from the meeting on 27 November 2013 were agreed.
[edit] Review / status of actions
[edit] Plan for the Services Systems Engineering Working Group
Steve Ashlin has sent out a draft plan to cover what we are doing. All to comment by end of February for update and discussion at the next meeting.
[edit] Risk and associated issues
Peter Mason has sent out a document on the EU Approach to Risk Management which is relevant to this work. To be discussed at the next meeting.
[edit] Review aspects of characterisation
Laura Mullin has started work on this but not got very far. John Davies has grouped current set of Characteristics into seven Groups. We expect further work in this area for our next meeting.
[edit] Study of SEBok for Services Systems Engineering
Andrew Farncombe has review SEBoK entries and found that Services Systems Engineering has a prominent place under applications of Systems Engineering and has a comprehensive bibliography. The materiel appears to be reasonably extensive and useful. Andrew will produce a précis of the material for review by the group as a ‘double gap analysis’ – what is there that we haven’t thought of, what have we thought of that isn’t there. Note the SEBok is copyright Stevens Institute. the link to the Stevens copyright stuff is at http://www.sebokwiki.org/wiki/Bkcase_Wiki:Copyright
If you go up a level and expand Part 4 (Applications of Systems Engineering), you’ll see the Services Systems Engineering link on the left-hand side.
[edit] Review of Cambridge Services Alliance papers
John Davies has started a review of the material with a view to identifying overlap between our group interests and the work of the Alliance and specific papers of interest. There is a link to the Alliance web site on our Wiki. Peter Mason will try and make contact through BAE Systems.
[edit] Product Service Systems
Rachel Freeman has been looking at the large amount of information on PSS and will produce a summary with a view to seeing its relationship to SSE and its boundaries.
[edit] General Discussion
Following on from the discussion on Product Service Systems, it is clear the Services Systems Engineering covers a wide scope and that some focus will be required. It was suggested that we go back to the ‘Think Pieces’ provided at Meeting 1 in order to check the scope of SSE that the CAB (Corporate Advisory Board) are interested in. It is appreciated (or expected) that the SEBok, the Cambridge Services Alliance and this work may have different drivers and different scope.
