Review and discussion of work being done
Risk in Service Provision
This is a major issue as risks arise throughout the period of provision of the service and affect both the provider and user.
Peter M has looked at various documents and feels the EU document "Risk management in the procurement of innovation", EUR 24229 EN, provides the best approach.
A major area of concern is that of certification, where uncertified services or products may be included withihn certified services. This issue is covered in some industries which are regulated and there are licensed service providers.
'Ethics' is also of greater concern for services than for products. Individual engineers can be chartered through the Engineering Council but this does not cover organisations. Ethical issues are core requirements (or attributes) of services but it is not clear how they can be specified.
Characterisation of Services
Laura M has progressed a literature search. One aspect is that characterisation of services includes their evolution in use through real-time low of information and feed-back loops.
Projects are delivered into existing services to change/improve/maintain them. This should be on the basis of 'value' to the various stakeholders. This looks like an area that is currently not recognised or well understood but would be of great benefit if we can develop it.
Product-Service Systems
Rachel F provided a presentation (distributed) this includes eight types of PSS which could be included in the work on Characterisation. Comments on the presentation are needed by the end of April.
Review of Cambridge Services Alliance Documents
John D reported that he had not got far with this, but the general theme was the out-sourcing of manufacturing rather than the engineering of services. He will continue to identify which are of interest to the INCOSE work.
Review SEBoK entries
Andrew F has reviewed the areas of the SEBok - Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge to identify what applies to Services, what needs changing, what is missing.

Andrew has produced a precis for review along with the SEBoK content. Comments are needed by the end of April. Please note and abide by the restriction on use and distribution in the header/footer.
Update of Plan
Steve A has developed the draft plan by expanding of the identified activities and taking into account work done and discussed since the first draft. It had gone out for comment, but none had been received. He will do a few updates as a result of this meeting, possibly including something on 'Service Science' and send out again. Comments are needed by the end of April.
Communications
Jon Holt, the new technical director, has requested that all active working groups share information on their work with the wider membership on a regular basis through a number of channels in a standard, but user-friendly, way. We already have the information needed and Peter M will ensure this gets done.
In addition, the group will present to the general audience at ASEC14, the INCOSE UK Annual Symposium in November.
