Review

Simon had sent out a Strawman for a Z Guide, mainly using work done previously. Mark had provided detailed comments which were used to guide the review.

General feeling

  • Some sections were suitable, but others were too detailed.
  • The less detailed parts were general information.
  • The parts providing general views were usefu;
  • The detailed parts were looking at methods
  • The material in some areas covered 'What and Why' and other areas were covering How.
  • what the level and content should be will be somewhat determined by who the customer for this work is going to be.
    • Z guides for new-comers,
    • Omega Guides for more advanced and
    • Don't Panic booklets for people who want to get clear guidance.

Way forward

It was felt that producing a draft 'Don't Panic' guide would be most useful and then producing the shorter guides later as they could be more difficult to write - the problem of what to leave out.

Attending ASEC2011.

The content of ASEC was reviewed with a view to attending . Generally it was found that two talks were of interest but did not provide enough new material to justify the cost in terms of time sand money. Unless someone else wants to go, the requested Poster, Spare meeting sessions and Group Leaders forum will not be attended.
